I'm an internet ghost for the most part. I don't have the usual social media and I don't go out of my way to make myself known beyond the physical realm.
Well, I'd like to change that just a bit. My plan is to share things in my life that I think are interesting, helpful, insightful... you know, all of the buzzwords.
I also want to share these things in a way that's approachable. Much of what I want to talk about is gatekept, overly mystified, and/or shrouded by general snobbery and know-it-all-ness. I'm not committed to the idea that I'm always right- there have been way too many instances where that wasn't the case. In other words, I try my best to keep things simple, have open mind, and avoid rigidity in my thinking- I want those values to be reflected here.
A few topics I'd like cover here:
My work: I'm a research and policy analyst within the Demographics Research Group at the University of Virginia Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service. I'd like to share some aspects of the projects I work on as well as the technical aspects of getting this kind of work done. Disclaimer so I don't get fired: the views I share in this blog are my own and do not reflect those of my employer. That being said, I'm not going to post anything racy or salacious and I'll do my best to keep my opinions out of the picture.
Cycling: I'm an avid road cyclist. I've had the immense pleasure of riding my bike some cool places around the US and Europe. I also have ridden, worked with, and accumulated a lot of cycling gear over the years and would like to share my experiences and thoughts.
Music: I love music and like to think I have unique taste. I may not write about this topic as much as the others, but I'd like to share my thoughts on albums and/or artists and avoid exhaustive music review rhetoric.
Thanks for stopping by in the meantime! I'll try my best to stick with the blog, even if it means screaming into the void.
